Insulin - summarised

Normal glucose variations
Insulin helps the body to manufacture proteins, fats and other substances. Its main function is to assist the propagation of glucose in the blood into the cells of major body tissues. Insulin in stored in the liver and muscle cells as glycogen. It has other functions such as speeding up other chemical processes in the body and alos as an energy source. If insulin is in the body is low the body will malfunction in a number of ways. As a result the glucose is not used up by the tissues resulting in higher levels of glucose in the blood above normal. Higher than normal levels of glucose in the blood is knownas Hyperglycaemia. Lower than normal levels of glucose is known as Hypoglycaemia.
