Any Symptoms of Hyperglycaemia ?

The symptoms of Hyperglycaemia occur when there is uncontrolled diabetes; When blood glucose rises above normal. Bear in mind that that there may be no symptoms if the rise in blood glucose is moderate

Hyperglycaemia causes one or more of the following symptoms to occur:

 (1)The lens of the eye may alter its shape,producing - blurring of vision.

(2) High glucose levels in the blood reducethe body�s defences against infection. Skin, urine, lung    and other infections may occur.

(3) More glucose in the blood can interfere with brain activity causing - poor concentration and lethargy.

(4) By overflowing into the urine glucose may draw water with it; - more urine is passed.

(5) Excessive urination reduces fluid reserves and stimulates - thirst in an attempt to maintain normal fluid supplies

(6) Excessive urination also results in loss of essential chemicals (sodium, potassium and magnesium), producing - cramps, tiredness and weakness.

(7) Because glucose cannot be properly used by the body and is lost in the urine, the body uses its stores of fat as a fuel supply resulting in - weight loss.

(8) If very severe loss of fluid occurs, the body becomes dry (dehydrated); - breathlessness or coma may occur.

(9) Prolonged high levels of blood glucose, even if taking insulin, can damage body tissues over a period of years. This can lead to "complications of diabetics"� These are
